The Check-In Procedure
After you have boarded your aircraft or arrived at your location, it is now time for you to wait until it is time for you to check in. The check-in times for yacht charters are typically between the hours of 5 and 6. On the other hand, there is a possibility that you could be able to arrange an early check-in (sometime between 1 and 2 in the afternoon).
Check-in timings are often in the afternoon, so if you have a flight reservation, you should be sure to get at your location at least two or three hours before the check-in time for your yacht charter. This will guarantee that you are not late for your reservation. For instance, if your check-in time in Split is at two in the afternoon, Croatia will make sure you get in Split before noon, therefore a decent flight will get there before ten in the morning.
You also have the option of arriving in Split the day before your yacht charter, checking into a hotel for the night, and spending the day of your check-in either seeing the city or purchasing food for your boat before checking in for your yacht charter.
To begin, you need to make certain that you find out where the marina or yacht charter base is located, and that you arrive at the office with plenty of time to spare.
When you go to check in, you’ll need to make sure you have the following with you:
- Your valid passport and/or other form of identification
- Booking information
- Credit card payment is required for the deposit.
- A copy of the insurance (optional)
- Boat licence (if you have booked a bareboat charter)
- VHF radio licence
- Logbook (if necessary)
Depending on what you booked, you should also be prepared for the following additional costs or amenities, which may be applicable:
- Extras that you have reserved, such as a chef or hostess, pre-purchased groceries, an outboard motor for the dinghy, an early check-in, a safety net, Wifi, paddleboard, etc. (verify that they have been included), etc.
- Mooring fees
- Necessities (drinking water and electricity) (drinking water and electricity)
- Provisions (this may be booked or purchased before your charter) (this can be booked or purchased before your charter)
- At the end of the charter, you will need to refuel.
If you have reserved extra crew services, such as a skipper, hostess, or other member of the crew, you will meet them either at check-in or on the boat. At this point, you will be shown to the boat that you will be using.
The manager of the base will give you a tour of the boat and provide you with all of the necessary information on it. They will walk you through every section and room of the boat, as well as go over any technical aspects of the vessel, and they will inspect the water and gas tanks. At this time, you are free to ask any questions that you have or voice any concerns that you might have.
In addition to this, the official boat paperwork and everything else you require for your yacht hire will be provided to you.
It’s time to set sail and go explore!
The Checkout Procedure
You have had a wonderful time out on the water for the last week, but regrettably, your yacht rental has come to an end, and it is time to bring your boat back to its home base.
You are obliged to return the boat to the base the evening before your check-out date, unless you have made other arrangements with the staff beforehand. In the Mediterranean, the majority of operators will request that you return to the base the day before (Friday) by 6 o’clock in the evening for the formal check out, and then you will be required to sleep on board.
You might be able to locate local village eateries in the marina, port, or adjacent towns to enjoy a delicious lunch before you head back home, but this will depend on the sailing location you choose.
The base manager will conduct an inspection of your boat on the day of your check-out and will inform you of anything else you need to do to finish your check-out process. You are required to get out of the boat no later than nine in the morning on Saturday.
You are welcome to provide the management with any comments or suggestions that you may have on your charter or the boat.
After the Charter
You will come away from your yacht charter with memories that will stay with you for the rest of your life. If you’d like, you may share some images with us from your vacation and give us some comments about your yacht charter experience.
It is important that you keep in mind that if you have any problems, you should always report them to the base. If there are any problems with your yacht hire, having this information will help us serve you more effectively.
