Triangular-shaped Aegina is only 12 nautical miles south of Piraeus. Anchor here to buy fresh fruit and vegetables from caiques moored nearby or savour local dishes in one of the best island restaurants: Remetzo, To Dromaki, Maya Bay and Kavourina.

On the small island of Agistri you will find great beaches and bays which are not very crowded even during the high season. Chalikiada beach and Skliri beachs are great for those looking for wild and secluded spots to dip.

When in search of a mooring place, be aware that due to its shallow water, only smaller boats can moor in Skala, while larger boats can moor in Milos marina.

Next to visit is Poros island, a nice pine-wooded island with calm sea. Be careful around Galata since there are some really shallow water areas to avoid. Inside the strait are many safe coves where you can anchor for a swim or to spend a quiet night away from the lively port.

Next day head to Hydra, a rocky island with a tiny safe port. Beaches are located on the east side and one nearby uninhabited islets of Trikeri and Dokos.

Do not skip the island of Spetses, where you can anchor between the main port Dapia, and the old harbour or head to the ultra safe inner harbour Baltiza.

Spetses hosts a classic boat race in June, while in September you can enjoy the Armata celebration of a historic sea battle with the Ottomans.

If you come here, check Mouria, To Kalogerikon and To Perivoli tis Gogos for best dining.  Bathe in crystal clear water in one of the secluded bays of beaches surrounded by lush pine forests.
